Interested in Volunteering?
We rely on volunteers to deliver all our projects.
Helping people get off and stay off our streets requires a whole team of people bringing different skills and support that are essential to make sure our guests are always safe, encouraged and cared for all the time they are on their journey with us.
We have plenty of exciting opportunities for you to get involved.
We need people who are:
- great at making guests feel welcome and accepted
- great encouragers and good listeners
- prepared to make up beds
- prepared to help in our kitchen, workshop or shop & store
- willing to drive a van to deliver goods
The BCARS Journey
Some ways you can help us
How to apply
Running 5 projects it’s a good idea to see where your skills fit best, plus the best fit for you and us depending on your availability and where we have a need. We want you to be happy and effective in your role. It’s worth looking at all our projects first before you contact us.
Current volunteer roles
Sleepsafe Mission 2019/20 – Helping at our supported bed project.
Logistics team – Working from our storehouse delivering much needed supplies
( Drivers & helping hands required)
Carpenters’ Workshop – Helping trainees learn & make wooden products to sell at our shop.
Training Kitchens & Café – Being part of a team to help our trainees in our 2 kitchens and café.
I would say to anyone contemplating joining BCARS projects ‘Go for it’. You will be welcomed, accepted and valued either as a volunteer or guest.
We offer bespoke training for all of our projects. All of our volunteers must hold a current Adult Safeguarding Certificate (training provided or supply a copy of a current adult safeguarding certificate).
We take up references for all of our volunteers and complete DBS checks when required.
Volunteers are invited to social events and some expenses can be covered.
If you would like to volunteer for any of our projects, please call us or email us and one of the team will contact you.
Sleepsafe has broadened my horizons about how much more we can do with and for those sleeping rough.
Working together with churches across Bournemouth is something that I’m sure delights God’s heart.
