Carpenters Workshop Volunteer
Project Name: 2nd Half Carpenters’ Workshop
Location: St Michael’s Church, Bournemouth
Volunteer Title: Carpenters’ Workshop Volunteer
Time Commitment: Tues or Weds, 12pm – 5pm on a rotational basis
Role Description: 2nd Half is designed to create a structured programme of skill-building and work opportunities to help at least 12 ex-rough sleepers per year. The aim is to rebuild their skills and self-esteem so that they are ready and able to gain employment.
The key to the success of this project is to have enthusiastic, positive and trustworthy volunteers who are happy to work alongside our guests. You will need to be prepared to work as part of a team in a carpentry workshop environment, allowing our guests to take the lead role and supervise them as needed. Full training and safety equipment are provided.
Key skills: experience in carpentry, building and DIY is a benefit but not essential
You will gain experience in:
- supporting those who have been rough sleeping
- volunteering in a carpentry workshop environment
- being part of a small but close team
